Ichigo-ichie
Origin of “Ichigo-ichie”
“Ichigo-ichie ” is a wordplay on the phrase “一期一会 (Once-in-a-lifetime encounter).”
I, Emi, love strawberries.
Just like a strawberry,
where many seeds represent many precious encounters,
carefully, one by one,
I want to build them up as if painting a picture.
Because every encounter is a once-in-a-lifetime moment,
I want to cherish and weave each one.
This is the feeling behind the name.
※Once-in-a-lifetime encounter:
An opportunity that will never happen again,
a once-in-a-lifetime connection with someone.

a life filled with art brings a gentle richness,
and when looking around, you suddenly find yourself in a peaceful world…
I hope such a feeling spreads.”

Biography
Emi is a Japanese artist, NFT creator, and owner of the online brand “Ichigo Ichie.” Havingdrawn since early childhood, she paused her artistic path after graduating from universityin 1997. In 2012, she resumed creative work through second-hand book sales and upcyclingprojects, leading to the launch of her online shop in 2017. Her artistic journey transformed in2022 when she discovered NFT and AI art, inspiring her to fully relaunch her creativepractice and re-establish “Ichigo Ichie” as an art-focused platform in 2023.
Since then, Emi has expanded her output across Japan and internationally, presenting workin group shows, open-call exhibitions, book design, and collaborative product projects. The name Ichigo Ichie plays on the Japanese idiom for once-in-a-lifetime encounters, blendingit with the word for strawberry (ichigo) to symbolize gathering precious encounters one byone, like individual seeds on a fruit. Through her ongoing exhibitions and publishing work, she continues to share her warm, life-centered creative vision with a global audience.
